If spaying or neutering your pet is cost-prohibitive, there are many local reduced-cost spay/neuter programs. Many do not have income requirements although some reduce costs even further for low-income households. The low-income program at Oconee Humane Society has fees as low as $10. The cost of spaying and neutering through one of these programs is substantially lower than the cost of food and veterinary care for a pregnant dog or nursing litter.
